ceremonial changing three guards in Athens, Greece

Departures: All year round

Duration: Full day – Seat in Coach or Private Tour available. Includes Lunch

An extension of the half-day city tour, this journey is slightly more relaxed and certainly more detailed.  From the Acropolis to Omonia Square, visit all the famous sites of ancient and modern Athens.

Start with a photo stop at the Panathinaiko Stadium where the first Olympic Games took place in 1896. Pass by Zappeion and the Temple of Olympian Zeus before seeing the ‘Athens Trilogy’ – the University of Athens, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library. Continue passing by National Garden, Hadrian’s Arc, St. Paul’s Church, Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown soldier, Schliemann’s House (Numismatic Museum), Catholic Cathedral, Old Parliament, Constitution Square, Russian Orthodox Church,
and finally the world-famous Acropolis.  Enjoy a short walk by Herodion and Dionysos Theatre before arriving at the Acropolis Museum.  Avoiding the queues, take in the  magnificent artefacts in the Acropolis Museum with our expert guide.

Head to a local restaurant under the slopes of Acropolis for lunch, after which we will enjoy a scenic drive along the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf before arriving at Cape Sounion.  The Cape’s Temple of Poseidon is perched on a rocky hilltop overlooking the sea. The view across the Aegean is magnificent with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world, extending all the way to Kea and the Peloponnese on a clear day.
