DAY 2 Bethlehem – Jerusalem
Bethlehem After breakfast, visit holy Jerusalem, this ancient city that has throughout its history experienced great bloodshed. Discover the magnificent walls surrounding the Old City of Jerusalem. The walls of the Old City today were erected in 1535 by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. Discover the Via Dolorosa, the Holy Sepulchre, the Wailing Wall, admire the Haram al-Sherif, with the Dome of the Rock, the third holiest site in Islam. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Bethlehem. (B/D)
DAY 3 Bethlehem – Jerusalem
Bethlehem Tour of Bethlehem. Visit the Basilica of the Nativity, the oldest church in the world built over the cave that sheltered Christ after his birth. See the Chapel of St. Jerome, the Church of St. Catherine, Milk Grotto. Visit the Mount of Olives and the Sanctuary of the Ascension, the Franciscan Chapel of Dominus Flevit, the tomb of the Virgin Mary, as well as the Basilica of all Nations, “Gethsemane” and the Church of the Pater Noster. Arrive in the Old City to walk through the souk. (B/D)
DAY 4 Bethlehem – Jericho – Dead Sea
Depart for Jericho. To the north of the oasis the Umayyads built a palace, Qasr Hisham, which houses beautiful mosaic floors. Find the Inn of the Good Samaritan, cross the canyon of Wadi Quelt to admire the beautiful St. George Monastery built against the ochre cliffs of the mountain and see Mount Quarantine. Take a dip in the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. (B/D)
DAY 5 Jaffa – Haifa – Acre – Nazareth
Drive along the Mediterranean coast through the legendary city of Jaffa, where you will come to the port of Haifa and Mount Carmel, where the prophet Elijah challenged the powers of the Earth and the priests of Baal. Visit Acre, (Akko) coveted since ancient times by the Syrians and the Persians. It was the Crusaders who for two centuries made the city an important base. Visit the El Jazzar Mosque, the ancient Crusader city, the Hammam al-Pasha, the Caravanserai and the oriental Souk dating back to the 19th century. Overnight in Nazareth. (B/D)
DAY 6 Nazareth – Tiberias – Nazareth
Visit the Basilica of the Annunciation and a synagogue, and explore archaeological excavations. Travel to the Galilee, where you visit the small village of Tabgha where there is a sixth-century basilica commemorating the miracle of the loaves and fishes. Stop at the summit of the Mount of Beatitudes. At Capernaum visit the ruins of the synagogue and Peter’s house, the Domus Ecclesia. Dinner and overnight in Nazareth. (B/D)
DAY 7 Nazareth – Mount Tabor – Banias
Visit Mount Tabor, and then head to the Jordan River. You will then drive through the valley of Al Hula Nature Reserve to Banias (Caesarea Philippi). After dinner, transfer to the airport in Tel Aviv for the return flight. All our programmes are subject to modification at any time.
