BUSHFIRE EMERGENCIES

Many parts of Australia experience bushfires and there are danger periods, usually during late spring and summer in the south and winter and spring in the north. Under no circumstances should you wander into a fire danger zone thinking you will be alright.

ARE AUSTRALIA'S BEACHED SAFE TO SWIN IN?

Australia has more than 10,000 beaches and they often have strong currents. Many people can be caught off guard by these. Always swim between the red and yellow flags as these areas are patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months. Always check water depth before diving.

Shark attacks are rare but do occur so swimming in patrolled areas is a must as is not swimming alone or way off shore. Marine stingers are also present so remain vigilant.
